The News & Observer - Health care staffing company coming to N.C.

June 22, 2006

A Chicago-based health-care staffing agency — plans to open six new locations in North Carolina by year’s end.

BrightStar Healthcare will open franchises in Asheville, Greensboro, Winston-Salem, the Triangle and two in Charlotte. The company links medical and nonmedical caregivers to its clients.

President Shelly Sun founded BrightStar in 2002 in response to what she saw as poor customer service in medical services.  She was a corporate executive for 14 years before she became an entrepreneur.

“The health-care industry in North Carolina is rapidly growing,” Sun said in a prepared statement. “BrightStar is at the forefront of the movement.”

BrightStar’s franchising efforts began last year, and it now operates in Illinois, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
